Ricky proposed to Karlin on Valentines Day in 2016. This capped five years on their relationship as they always celebrate Valentines Day as the day they had their first kiss. Ricky had decided that Karlin was the women of his dreams that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with and now that they were settled into their new home, this was the perfect time. So, he picked out an antique ring from the 1930's and marked the 14th of Feburary to pop the question. With reservations made for the special occasion to one of their favorite resturants in Orange Beach, Shipp's Harbour Grill, Ricky tried to keep the excitement of what he was planning to do under his hat. Karlin literally had no idea what was going on. He decided to propose at the same location that they had their first kiss. So, as they were getting ready to leave for dinner on this special Valantine's Day, Ricky made sure he had the ring and that everything was in place. He only worried about a couple things; would she say yes and if she had any idea what of what was about to happen. Also, the place he wanted to propose was the opposite direction from their house than the restaurant they were going to. So, if she noticed that they were going the wrong way, that might be a red flag to her. Luckily for Ricky, Karlin was talking so much on the drive that she didn't even realize that they were on the other side of the island until they were almost there. As they pulled in, Karlin recognized it as the place of their first kiss, which made the moment even more special. However, she still had no idea what was about to happen. So, they got out of the vehicle and reinacted their first kiss. Then, Ricky said, "Now, I want to ask you something I should have asked you that same night we first kissed." Dropping to one knee, he pulled out the ring and asked her for her hand in marriage. Well, Karlin was so shocked at what was really happening and the size of the ring that she couldn't say a single word. She was frozen and grinning ear to ear. This caused Ricky not to know what her answer was!? After asking mutiple times, she finally said "YES! OF COURSE!" with a tear in her eye. They then hugged and reflected in the moment. The ride to the restaurant was full of love as they both knew they were embarking on a journey of a lifetime with each other. The dinner was fabulous and everyone was happy. A special moment in both of their lives indeed...
